The Reef
Resort offers the best Stingray City trip for sailing and snorkeling on Grand
Cayman. We charter a 50' catamaran exclusively for our guests and sail out in
the afternoon from Kaibo Yacht Club. By leaving slightly later than most trips,
we're able to miss any crowds from cruise ships or Seven Mile Beach.
After a fantastic Cayman Island snorkeling stop at the North Sound Reef (yes,
your guides will actually hand-feed a shark and a moray eel; and, no they won't
feed them a hand), we head for the sandbar. We're often the only boat there, so
everyone will get the opportunity to feed and hold a Southern Stingray (they're
big, wet puppy dogs!), get a Stingray massage, and don't forget your Stingray
kiss. It's worth 7 years good luck.
Stingray City, a feeding ground for stingrays, is a unique and world renowned
Grand Cayman snorkeling spot. The stingrays love the shallow sandy bottom in
this area and in the nearby Sandbar site at the entrance to Rum Point Channel.
Regular price is $100 per person.

Snorkeling on Grand Cayman
Famous for their
diving, the Cayman Islands offer excellent snorkeling as well. Some of the
world’s most spectacular unspoiled coral reefs and walls can be explored in the
waters off The Reef and the East End of Grand Cayman. Vibrant tropical fish,
crystal-clear 80 degree water and spectacular coral reefs are easily accessible
from the shores around Grand Cayman Island.
The best months for snorkeling on Grand Cayman Island are April to October. The
waters offer great visibility, usually 100 to 150 feet with little or no
current. It’s always warm – in winter it’s 78° to 80° and in summer it’s 82° to
86°.
You won’t be alone snorkeling Grand Cayman Island’s warm waters – there are over
500 types of fish, including Sand Tigers, Queen Triggerfish, parrotfish, and
angelfish, as well as many other types of marine life including turtles, spotted
Eagle rays, reef sharks, moray eels, stingrays, Horse-Eye Jacks and barracudas.
The Reef is proud to now offer power snorkeling to our guests!
This is a 1 hour
guided snorkeling excursion using electric powered DPV’s (Dive propulsion
vehicles), guests are taken by bus to a secluded beach about ¾ a mile away where
we enter the water and gently glide back down the coast stopping at the best
snorkeling spots and fish holes in the area. A glass of chilled rum or fruit
punch awaits guests back at the resort where we chat about the exiting sea
creatures we have seen, nurse sharks, rays and turtles are a common sight making
this trip a truly different & exiting way to view the undersea world!
The cost is CI$32.00 (US$40) per person and includes transportation, all
snorkeling equipment, safety vest and the DPV.

Morning Paddle
This is a one hour guided
kayak tour exploring the beautiful and secluded East end coastline. The trip
departs at 9.30am right from our resort and heads off at a leisurely pace
paddling the blue tranquil waters of the Caribbean Sea. After about half an
hour we head towards the barrier reef and ride the gentle current back
towards the resort. On the way we stop off at a sandbar to stretch our legs
and look for the many friendly stingrays that frequent the area. The tour
can be as easy or as vigorous as the guests prefer but it’s certainly a
great way to start any day in paradise.
In the Cayman Islands, fishing is often called the unofficial
"national sport." Prized game fish like blue marlin, tuna, Wahoo and dolphin
(Mahi-mahi) are caught year-round. Thrilling catches take place as close as a
quarter mile offshore on all three islands, and Cayman captains and guides on
modern sport fishing charter boats take great pride in helping visiting anglers.
Whether skilled or novice - they locate, land and most times, release their
catch. Light tackle and fly-fishing for bonefish, tarpon and even permit
challenge top anglers, especially in the flats off Little Cayman. And for those
who like the thrill of competition, local fishing tournaments are sponsored
throughout the year by the Cayman Islands Angling Club and Rotary Club. The top
event is the Cayman Islands International Fishing Tournament, held annually in
late April.
